Sobre o evento
We are delighted to open the applications for the third edition of BMUN!This year, students from and outside Beacon School may choose to represent delegations or press in the following committees:UNHCR — The Armenian GenocideThis committee will discuss the Armenian Genocide, which took place mainly between 1915 and 1917 in the Ottoman Empire. Delegates will address issues such as historical recognition, humanitarian consequences, displacement, and the protection of victims’ rights and their descendants.HUNSC — The Berlin Blockade (1948)This historical committee will focus on the Berlin Blockade, one of the first major confrontations of the Cold War. Delegates will represent key actors from the period and address the crisis caused by the Soviet blockade of land access to West Berlin, while attempting to prevent a military escalation.Special Committee — The Infinity Accord: Council for the Greater Good (MCU)This special committee is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Delegates will take on the roles of characters or organizations from the MCU and face a fictional crisis involving global or universal security and the balance of power. It is a more creative and dynamic committee, where alliances and decisions can directly influence the development of the crisis.Junior ECOSOC — The Humanitarian Crisis in Afghanistan: Building Feasible Solutions for Education, Food Security and HealthcareThis committee will focus on the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Delegates will discuss practical solutions to challenges such as access to education, food insecurity, and limited healthcare, while considering the country’s political and economic constraints.UNSC — Addressing the Escalation of the M23 Conflict in Eastern DRC and Preventing Regional DestabilizationThis committee will address the escalation of the conflict involving the M23 rebel group in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Delegates will discuss regional security, civilian protection, displacement, and the involvement of neighboring countries, aiming to prevent the conflict from spreading throughout the region. We remind you that Senior committees are for 9th-12th grade students, and Junior committees are for 7th and 8th grade students. The event will be held in English and Portuguese. It will occur from September 02th-October 04th (Friday after school, Saturday and Sunday). We will offer food during coffee breaks, as well as lunch on Saturday. The registration deadline is September 29th, and participants must fill this form individually or within a delegation. A fixed number of representations has been allocated for each school, which will be filled on a "first come, first serve" basis. Hence, we advise that you apply hastily: the sooner you do, the better odds you have of securing a representation of your preference. In addition to registering, students must indicate their main committee choices using this https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1r1kBfVflqdJIB-JQZ8GOnB81dMR8cf2fKpyIL2YixZo/editlinkWe inform you that there is a compulsory participation fee of R$140 reais for each student, which will be necessary to cover food catering, printing and other costs. Private Schools scholarship holders may talk to their coordinators to waive this fee. School advisors are waived of this fee as well and will be registered in the form linked above (together with committee choices). Bring your friends!!Follow us on instagram to keep up with the event!
